Week of Action Events in West Virginia

West Virginia Campus Compact coordinated a training of student leaders and staff coordinators from West Virginia University Consortium of schools: West Virginia University, Concord College, Davis & Elkins College, Fairmont State College, Glenville State College, Marshall University, University of Charleston, West Virginia State College, WVU Parkersburg, WV Wesleyan College. The training was hosted by the West Virginia Center for Civic Life and held on the University of Charleston Campus on February 1,2003.

WV Public Broadcasting was with us all day taping the training. The cameras followed the students from session to session recording mock forums as the students practiced moderating. On February 13 at 9pm, it will run a 7-minute segment on the training on its Outlook magazine program. Public Television also plans to travel to a few of the schools during the week of 2/16 to tape the actual forums for use in an addition piece. 

Each of these teams planned a series of civic events for their campuses to be held during the Raise Your Voices Week February 17th-21st. We will invite local leaders, non-profit organizations, senior citizen groups, military organizations and general public to participate.
