SUMMIT GOALS:

1. To build greater awareness of service-learning and civic engagement activities throughout the Gulf South.

2. To facilitate dialogue and develop stronger professional connections among service-learning advocates and practitioners in the Gulf South.

3. To foster the development of formal service-learning and civic engagement infrastructures within post-secondary institutions as a means of institutional and faculty renewal.

4. To provide a forum for presenting and discussing service-learning research.

5. To explore the theoretical and practical implications of service-learning and civic engagement activities on higher education institutions and their communities.

6. To create opportunities for developing and maintaining partnerships among K-12 schools, higher education institutions, and community-based organizations.
