Agnes Scott has planned several activities for the week of February 16-22. A display in the entrance of the Alston Campus Center highlights these opportunities and showcases items of interest for each presentation. The presentations/activities include:
Monday, February 17
"The Value of International Experiential Learning: Focus on Faith Works Trip to Cuba"
Join Jennifer Lund, director of international education; Kent Leslie, visiting Kirk Professor in History; and Emily Brinkley '03, as they speak on the value of international experiential learning and the upcoming trip to Cuba where Agnes Scott College students will learn about the role of faith under difficult circumstances.
Thursday, February 20
"Women Making a Difference as Leaders in Atlanta's Non-Profit Organizations"
The Atlanta Semester's speakers' forum features a panel of non-profit leaders making a difference in the lives of women, children and communities. Join these powerful leaders and learn more about Atlanta's non-profit sector and how you can make a difference through internships and other experiential learning opportunities.
Friday, February 21
"Roundtable Discussion with Five Hubert Scholars"
In its second active year, the Hubert Scholarship Program enables students, traveling either at home or abroad, to participate in humanitarian service internships. Five Agnes Scott Hubert Scholars come together for the first time to share their experiences and offer helpful suggestions for those interested in applying for the scholarship. Join Sharon Kelly '03, Kateena Johnson '04, Sarah Chipps '03, Erica Jayne Dahlquist '03 and Claire Willeford '04 for this informative session.
Friday, February 21
"Alternative Spring Break to a Gullah Community"
Kate Randall and Emily Brinkley '03 discuss the importance of this upcoming alternative spring break opportunity. Agnes Scott College students will travel to a Gullah Community in South Carolina this year to work on a number of community development projects with this unique group descended from enslaved Africans.
