Brigham Young University
Students will be exposed to a myriad of opportunities for engagement in the surrounding communities. BYU will hold an exciting week-long event that will engage students in a variety of service activities in the community as well as on campus. This series of activities will serve to raise awareness in the student concerning the needs in their community.


College of Eastern Utah
The month of action will be kicked off by a Tsunami relief concert with opportunities for students to donate to the American Red Cross and UNICEF. For the second week of the month of action they will be assembling hygiene kits to be sent to the survivors of the Tsunami. During the third week they will be holding a campus-wide forum where students and faculty will discuss issues facing the campus, the city, the state, and the world. CEU will also provide an opportunity for a Carbon County Commissioner to come and speak about the importance of being an engaged citizen. Finally the week will end with an open mic session for the students to voice thoughts and opinions around the topic of civic engagement.


Dixie State College
Community organizations will be invited to campus to raise student's awareness of community involvement and give faculty a chance to contact community agencies. DSC will also hold a dialogue on campus, similar to the statewide event, to discuss different issues that are of value and importance specifically to students in the southern Utah region.


LDS Business College
LDSBC will be holding a series of debates/discussions on local and national issues that are currently being proposed in the legislature. These debates will be held with the goal of informing students about the issues and during the process the student leaders will showcase the opportunities for student involvement in the community pertaining to these issues. A final debate will be held with a neighboring college.


Salt Lake Community College
The month of action at SLCC will kick off on February 14th with a V-Day Volunteer Rally featuring a blood drive and volunteer fair with 40 community agencies. The month with culminate with "The Writing on the Wall Project," March 28-31st. Before this week, students will paint bricks with something that symbolizes oppression to them. Students will build the wall on campus, let it stand for a week, and then as a group tear it down. SLCC will also have several speakers and dialogues on campus throughout the month.


Snow College
Students at Snow College are “Steppin' it up” by holding several events that will give students on campus an opportunity to become civically engaged in the Ephraim community. They will also hold fundraisers and perform service that will reach the tsunami victims and individuals throughout the world and environment. These events will give students a greater idea of community and international needs and how they can become engaged in the efforts to meet these needs.


Southern Utah University
In the southern part of the state daily civic engagement activities will be held on campus and in the community. The events will be kicked off with a large Saturday project to help the families of the 222nd National Guard unit who recently left on active duty. The event will conclude with a lunch and speaker. Other activities will be occurring during the entire month of action. Through the month of action events students will become aware of the impact of military duty and international affairs and how they can help with the impact on a local (and larger) basis.


The University of Utah
The Month of Action on the UofU campus will include events that help students become more active citizens and give them an opportunity to discover new ways of becoming engaged citizens. A roots issues forum on health and poverty will be held. It is a discussion and an activity based event planned by students who are direct volunteers in their community. It is designed to address the root issues that create the social need for their work as directors of community service programs. Four Workshops will also be provided for students to learn various civic engagement skills. These will include how to organize, how to do community based research, how to hold a dialogue, how to lead an alternative weekend, etc.


Utah College of Applied Technology
UCAT is working to increase publicity of service learning on our campus to create opportunities and interest in dialogues about civic involvement. We have a student initiated interview that will be printed in our campus newsletter regarding how service learning is being implemented in two of our course programs. We have also created a display that pictorially show the effect of the service learning on the community.


Utah State University
Our Month of Action is targeted to bring the community to the campus encouraging issues, dialogues, and future connections for faculty, students, and community partners. The highlight event will be to collaborate with their Cache County Volunteer Center and the Cache Valley Connection. As a result of the collaboration they will conduct a “Day of Caring” volunteer fair. This fair is anticipated to include 500 individuals and will educate students and community members about the various agencies through which they can become engaged citizens.


Utah Valley State College
The students leaders hold a community action forum every other month that focuses on a specific topic such as family literacy, hunger, diversity, etc. The next community action forum will focus on the topic of “Life long service”. The hope is to encourage students to engage in life long service once their experience in college ends. The student service council will speak on life long service and provide resources for students who are interested in becoming involved in the community and developing habits of civic engagement.


Weber State University
The Month of Action at Weber State University will offer students the opportunity to become civic engaged students by focusing on issue of poverty and participating in several activities within the Enterprise Zone. Health Fairs will be held by our students for the Headstart program and the Golden Hour Center. In connection with the Rescue Mission, a panel on poverty will be held on campus. The panel will consist of residents from the Mission discussing and dialoguing. Finally, community donated materials will be used to build playhouses. The playhouses will be auctioned and the proceeds will go to the local Habitat for Humanity Chapter.

Westminster College
The month of action for this campus is filled with several coordinated large and small events throughout the month. These activities include a Habitat for Humanity project in Las Vegas, Tsunami relief efforts, fundraisers, after school programs, series of lectures, and leadership development. The Month of Action on this campus will introduce students all potential ways of become civically engaged in community
