The Colorado Campus Compact is hosting the UCAN Serve AmeriCorps Regional Conference from Wednesday, February 22nd through Saturday, February 25th.
All UCAN Serve Members have been invited to participate. At this conference we have chosen one of the Raise Your Voice Month of Action projects, "Exhibition of Expression" to implement. We have asked each student who has sent in a registration form to reflect on the service they are providing to their community. They will come to the conference with ideas. We will pair them up to talk about their service, and come up with messages, poems, symbols, pictures, etc. that describes what they are doing or issues they are concerned about. Then we will break them up into groups of 10, according to theme (service in the educational field, service in the health field, issue topics/concerns, etc.). In these groups, they will take their individual pieces and create one hanging mural, either by combining all their messages together, or creating something as a group. They will come back together as a large group and discuss their pieces. These murals will be displayed throughout the UCAN Serve AmeriCorps Regional Conference in the large ballroom for all to view. Students will write something that will be typed that describes their piece, and will be placed next to their mural.
