Day at the State Capitol
February 22, 2005 8:30 am-3:00 pm House Office Building, downtown Lansing, MI
The Day at the State Capitol provides students across the state with the opportunity to Raise their Voices on higher education and other social issues at the Capitol. Student who are involved on their campuses in community service, social justice work, and/or political activism are encouraged to attend.
This event will enable participants to:
Observe House and Senate Sessions
Discuss key issues with state legislators
Advocate on behalf of students in higher education
Learn how to take ideas and turn it into legislation

Week of Action
February 21-25, 2005 Ferris State University
Ferris State University will put on a week-long series of events that focus around the topic of civic engagement. Events that week include: a speaker, the MCC Day at the State Capitol, participation in the national Teleconference, a campus-wide blood drive, and a basketball tournament fundraiser. Proceeds from the basketball tournament will go to the Mid-Michigan Community Action Agency.

The Never Ending Journey
March 17, 2005 Alma College
The Never Ending Journey will bring Alternative Break service and issue education home to the Alma community through dialogue with elected officials. Alma students returning from their alternative break experience will have the opportunity to discuss with the invited mayor and city council members the issues that they addressed during the break and learn how to address these issues locally.
