The students at Alverno College will be holding a student-organized local candidate forum prior to the Spring 2004 primaries and elections. This project will establish a permanent student group whose purpose will be to support engagement in civic activities and responsibility for community leadership.


Marquette University

The students at Marquette University will be hosting an evening dialogue with Mayoral candidates, with particular attention paid to issues that most impact education in the city.


University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire

The Student Senate and Center for Service-Learning at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will create an inventory of all current civic engagements by students and have that available for students and the public and present an Idealist Career Day.


University of Wisconsin-Green Bay

The American Government Students, at University of Wisconsin-Green Bay will host a dialogue with students in the American Government that will stimulate their thinking about what civic life means and the important issue s of the day and politics.


University of Wisconsin – Madison

The students at University of Wisconsin-Madison will organize a program to educate and involve UW-Madison students on social issues and political participation. During the months of February and March, they will sponsor three speakers and a film, with group discussion, on different social issues.


University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh

The students at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh will initiate a “Kickoff for Cans” on February 17th, 2004. This program will build relationships between individuals, organizations, student leaders, and local constituents to build a long lasting foundation of engagement with the city of Oshkosh based on the need for food for food pantries ion the community. During this program they will also initiate student voter registration.


University of Wisconsin – Parkside

Date: February 20 & 21, 2004

The at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside will conduct a forum and workshop called “What is Patriotism” which will involve a discussion dealing with issues surrounding the Patriot Act, which was passed by Congress shortly after September 11, 2001. This forum will be held on February 20th and 21st 2004. There will be two speakers.


University of Wisconsin – Parkside

The students at University of Wisconsin-Parkside in partnership with students at Carthage College and Marquette University will implement a Diversity Circles initiative in the residence halls at their schools. Student leaders will be hired to plan, organize a program that will sustain student’s understanding of how their peers and our society have been impacted by race and racism.
