Students Action Changing Society (SACS)
February 21st
Reed College will host an all- day gathering of student leaders from many campuses around the state to discuss student action and social change. The meeting will include discussions and workshops, and the students will take part in a group service project at the end of the day.

Lewis and Clark College
Lecture by Robert Putnam and campus-wide dialogues

For the Month of Action, Lewis and Clark College has invited Robert Putnam, renowned thinker and author of Bowling Alone to speak at the College about civic engagement, student impact, and social change.
In addition, there will be a campus-wide discussions during the Month of Action about the meanings of democracy and the ways that student action can deepen democracy.

The first Month of Action event at Portland will be a presentation on taxeswho pays them, what gets taxed, and where the money goes.
Panels on health care and public education
March 3rd
Portland University is sponsoring two panels on March 3rd. One three-person panel entitled The State of Public Education will present information about public education in the United States and encourage students to become involved in the Oregon elementary and secondary schools. The second panel, The State of Health Care, will discuss the challenges to creating a healthy, protected society and will highlight the opportunities for students to take action that will make a difference in the health of the nation.
