Organized Action by Students Invested in Society (OASIS) at Northwestern University will be hosting an Outreach Day. Students will volunteer to participate in a day of service. A speaker will motivate students in the morning before they begin their work by focusing their attention on the larger issues involved and to challenge them to reflect upon their roles as volunteers and students. · February 19th The National Teleconference on the New Student Politics will be shown LIVE. Popcorn and beverages will be served, dialogue to follow.
· February 20th Speaker Jennifer McNab a Rockford College Alumni 98' comes to speak "Public Service as a Way of Life: 10 Ways You Can Get Involved Today".
February 28th, 2004 Western Illinois University is hosting the state-wide Voices Of Illinois Initiating Civic Engagement (V.O.I.I.C.E.) student conference. There will be three tracks of workshops: Finding Your Voice; Training Your Voice and Raising Your Voice.
"Finding Your Voice" workshops are targeted at students that are in the process of finding their voice and making it their own. "Training Your Voice" track is for those who have found their voice and looking for strategies to lay a solid foundation for action. Finally, those who have already begun "Raising Your Voice" can attend workshops that will help them advance their skills and become more efficient, active participants in civic engagement.
