ATTN: [Staffer, Title]
[Address]
Dear [Title, Last Name]:
I am a student at [your school] in [name of city] and would like to request an appointment to meet with you.
As you may know, my school has joined more than 600 colleges and universities across the nation to take part in the Raise Your Voice campaign a campaign focused on increasing student involvement in public life. I would like to meet with you to discuss possible ways we can work together to expand upon our schools efforts to convey the importance and benefits of civic engagement to students in our community. I would be free to meet with you in [example: Boston] at any time during the next several weeks, and would appreciate an opportunity to sit down and talk. If this time is not convenient, I would be pleased to work with your staff to find a mutually acceptable date and time.
Student voice is a critical, often neglected, aspect of discussions on many issues facing our society today. In fact, many believe that young people are the largest group of unclaimed voters in the country and neither Democrats nor Republicans have been particularly effective in reaching out to them. The goal of Raise Your Voice is to amplify students actions and ideas so that they make a difference in communities across the country and around the world. We believe that their increased involvement in civic life has direct and powerful political, economic, and social benefits.
I hope your busy schedule will allow you to meet with me [and list any other names of students, faculty, community partners, etc.] sometime soon. I would enjoy the opportunity to discuss how we can work with you and your office to make the students of [YOUR SCHOOL] a more integral part of the community. I am available at [YOUR PHONE NUMBER] if your staff has any questions. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from your office.
Sincerely,
Remember to sign
