Building a Strong Base of Support

To ensure an effective launch on campuses nationwide, we encourage you to partner with campus organizations and leaders to form a local coalition that will help disseminate the messages of this campaign.

A successful coalition will include members of your community who will be effective in reaching your target audience. The following groups will be helpful in getting the message out to the widest possible audience on your campus:

• Community service directors
• Faculty
• University administrators
• Student government
• Fraternity and sorority leaders
• Political activists
• Student group leaders
• Intramural team leaders
• Local business leaders
• Restaurant owners
• Charities
• Religious organizations
• Sports teams

We urge you to work with these groups in the weeks leading up to the launch so that they are familiar with the messages outlined at the beginning of this guide and on board to help spread the word about the campaign.

Below are ways in which these groups can assist in communicating the messages of the campaign during the launch.

• Display Raise Your Voice postcards
• Hang Raise Your Voice flyers on bulletin boards
• Participate as on-campus sponsors of Raise Your Voice activities
• Pass out Raise Your Voice flyers at meetings
• Place Raise Your Voice postcards or flyers in mailboxes
• Talk about Raise Your Voice in daily communication

Use the community mapping resource guide to generate additional ideas on who to involve in your coalition.
