2004-2005:

The Raise Your Voice initiative in Maine will have several components during the 2004-2005 academic year. The Maine Campus Compact Civic Fellows will start the year off to a running start. These students will work individually and in teams from their campuses on issues of importance to them and their fellow students. They will facilitate dialogues, advocate for social change and lobby their legislators. For the first time this year, Civic Fellows will add an advisory and policy element to their work through which they will help shape the direction of both Maine Campus Compact and future civic engagement policy.

Other programming will include a host of workshops centered around civic skills, including an alternative break workshop, a workshop on planning and facilitating a dialogue, a working with legislators workshop, and training on campus change for civic engagement. All workshops are open to students, faculty, and staff planning these events. Colleges interested in hosting a forum on “The People Speak: America's Role in the World” can apply for a mini-grant from Maine Campus Compact to help set up the event on their campuses. Students, faculty, and staff involved in these events will be honored at Maine Campus Compact's 10th Anniversary Celebration, held in conjunction with our Month on Action events at the Maine State Hall of Flags.
