RESOURCE GUIDE FOR STAFF AND FACULTY
WORKING IN SUPPORT OF ENGAGED STUDENTS

GETTING STARTED:

Helping Student Leaders Assess How and Where to Start

Student leaders working on the Raise your Voice campaign may have big ideas and a commitment to engagement but also anxieties about where to begin. The best support you can offer is to

• Listen to students carefully,
• Ask questions that help students move from the abstract to the concrete,
• Help students to identify potential issues and allies,
• Suggest students focus on small, short term projects initially,
• Offer lots of encouragement.
